Redlining, renewal & demographic change
Clarifying Remarks: An old section of large 2-story houses adjoining the business district. Although it has come to be something of a rooming house neighborhood with a business encroachment on the north and east it still retains the appearance of a rather substantial section, once occupied by loading citizens of the community. Quite a number of the large houses have been converted into duplexes. There are 4 apartment houses in the area, two of the best in the city where units rent for approximately $50 each. The north and western portions of the area are somewhat better than the eastern part. As a whole, it is a spotty section. The ground is rolling to hilly. One of the best negro neighborhoods in Kansas City is located immediately to the west. A poor third grade district. Occupation: Business, professional and wage earners Foreign-born nationality: Few mixed Negro %: 0% Infiltration of: Wage earners
Mapping Inequality: Redlining in New Deal America (University of Richmond Digital Scholarship Lab).

Cultural Texture
Riverview feels like a modest, working-class residential neighborhood shaped by older housing, apartments, industrial and labor-oriented employment, and a strong Mexican and Spanish-speaking presence. Its public texture is less about a concentrated nightlife district than about everyday food businesses, family-oriented parks, highway and freight infrastructure, and nearby entertainment destinations. The result is a practical, culturally rooted neighborhood with a calm residential feel but visible economic and linguistic diversity.
